Dear Sisters,
Thank you to Sister Tanna Tittle for a wonderful Relief Society lesson on Sunday. She taught Elder John C. Pingree’s October conference talk, “Eternal Truth.” Elder Pingree said, “Our need to recognize truth has never been more important! Truth is critical for us to establish and strengthen our relationship with God, find peace and joy, and reach our divine potential.”
Tanna divided the class into sections and had us discuss the following things:
What is truth? Why is truth important? How do we find truth?
In considering what is truth, we need to consider if the concept is taught consistently in the scriptures and by living prophets, and confirmed by the witness of the Holy Ghost. Tanna also pointed out the difference between doctrine and policy. Elder Pingree said, “While doctrine never changes, policy adjusts from time to time. The Lord works through His prophets to uphold His doctrine and to modify Church policies according to the need of His children.”
Following are eternal truths that we should all understand: God is our Heavenly Father. He is all knowing, all powerful, and perfectly loving. He created a plan for us to gain eternal life and become like Him. As part of that plan, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to help us.
Calendar:
March 31 – Easter, Sacrament Meeting only
April 6, 7 – General Conference
April 14 – Sunday RS lesson, President Nelson’s conference talk
The Stake Women’s Conference Service Fair was wonderful! At the conference, Book of Mormon scripture cards were handed out with a wooden block to display them.
You can download the PDF for all of the scriptures by clicking here. They can be printed so we can have all of the cards.
The next couple of Sundays are very special days. We will be celebrating Easter and our Savior’s atonement and resurrection. We will then be taught by President Nelson and the other church authorities as we have the privilege to listen to general conference. We hope we can each be prepared to “Hear Him” as we feel the Holy Ghost testify of eternal truths.
With love,
Joyce, Amber, Mandee and Ann
